How the Atlas separates a source lead from a supported statement.
Every substantial entry identifies a source trail. Historical URLs can show that a path existed; they do not prove the implication of a headline. When evidence is incomplete, the entry stays narrow, describes the uncertainty and points to the best available collection.
How to use this entry
Start with the source ledger, then follow the record links for the most precise available description. The Atlas adds context and connections, but it does not replace the record holder.
Working rules
- Prefer a public record, institutional archive or official dataset.
- Link a source and retrieval date to every Atlas record.
- Keep unresolved conflicts visible rather than silently choosing one date.
- Correct source trails when readers provide better documentation.
